The School of Architecture (ETSA) of the University of Navarra includes the subject "Urban Regeneration" in the fifth year of the Degree in Architecture Studies, as part of the specialization itinerary for obtaining the Mention in Urban Project Management.
In this context, aware of the novelty of the work methodology proposed by the Spanish Urban Agenda and the international framework in which it is developed, it has been considered of interest to take it as a base document to contextualize the workshops and projects of the subject " Urban Regeneration”, proposing the students to work in accordance with the framework of its strategic objectives.
The student works published below are excellent examples of good practices on the implementation of the Spanish Urban Agenda in the University teaching methodology related to intervention projects in urban centers.
Course 20-21 Barañain
In an innovative way in Spanish Universities, the Higher Technical School of Architecture (ETSA) of Navarra has brought the Spanish Urban Agenda to its classrooms and has used it as a guiding document for the development of an Action Plan in a medium-sized municipality. During the 20-21 academic year, work has been carried out in the Navarrese town of Barañain, for which a total of 12 actions have been proposed after a prior selection among all those presented by the students (each one develops three actions).
Course 21-22 Logroño
With the experience of the previous year, the 5th year students of the Degree in Architecture Studies have worked on the subject “Urban Regeneration” and with the methodology proposed by the Spanish Urban Agenda, in the surroundings of the “Cubo del Revellín” in the city of Logroño . In the proposal, a total of 12 actions have been listed after a prior selection among all those that have been worked on in class (each student develops three actions), taking into account the similarities between some of the proposals of the different teams. The environment of the “Cubo del Revellín” has been the working area proposed on the occasion of the Logroño City Lab agreement between Logroño City Council and the Higher Technical School of Architecture that included not only this area but other 5 that have been worked on in other subjects of the Degree in Architecture Studies and whose results have been exhibited in the “Cubo del Revellín” Exhibition Hall in September 2022.
A brief academic framework is presented on the subject in which the four student works that are published as examples of good practices on the implementation of the Spanish Urban Agenda in the university teaching methodology related to intervention in urban centers..
Course 22-23 Las Encartaciones
Continuing with the experience of recent years in the subject “Urban Regeneration”, the 5th year students of the Degree in Architecture Studies have worked on this course in a rural area known as Las Encartaciones, which represents, by itself, a new approach with respect to the work and experiences of previous courses. We find, in this case, an approach from two different points of view: the implementation of the Spanish Urban Agenda with the application of its methodology and the big challenge of facing the demographic challenge that is so important today.
Below are the best works of the students, which are published as examples of good practices on the implementation of the Spanish Urban Agenda in the university teaching methodology:
Final Degree Projects
The Urban Agenda and its methodology is generating great interest among students, and proof of this is the fact that some of them choose to deepen in this subject through their Final Degree Projects. Below are some examples that, due to their interest, uniqueness and quality, deserve to be shared and made available to potential interested parties:
